Betty Josephine Evans Hayes, 80, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at Columbus Regional HealthCare. She was the daughter of the late Early Evans and Ruby Long. She was preceded in death by two sons, John Paul Hayes and Allen George Hayes.

She was a member of Palmyra Baptist Church of Old Dock and worked for The Blue Jean Corporation for more than 15 years.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at Palmyra Baptist Church with visitation prior to the service from 1-1:45 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband Herman Hayes Jr. of Whiteville; one daughter, Patricia Hayes Blackmon (Joel) of Whiteville; one son, Christopher Lee Hayes of Whiteville; one granddaughter, Heather Wagner (Robert); five grandsons, Waylon Hayes (Dawn), Jessie Hayes (Alexia), Justin Hayes (Lindsey), Jarrett Blackmon, Kyle Blackmon (Brittany); and six great-grandchildren, Kinsley Hayes, Brody Wagner, Logan Hayes, Emma Hayes, Rhett Blackmon and Stormy Blackmon
