Champs get hardware

The Whiteville Optimist AAA baseball team received their rings for winning the 2021 D2 Dixie Youth Baseball World Series over the summer during Whiteville football’s Nov. 12 second-round home playoff game versus James Kenan. The rings were on chains so the players could wear them if they didn’t fit. Coaches and District 2 coordinator Frankie Burney also received a ring.

The Central Columbus Darlings receive their medals for winning the North Carolina state championship over the summer during Whiteville football’s Nov. 19 third-round home playoff game versus St. Pauls. The team went undefeated in the state championship before competing in the Dixie Darlings Softball World Series.
