City schools report two COVID-19 cases, six students quarantined 


Superintendent Marc Whichard said at noon today (Monday) that one staff member at Central Middle School and another staff member at Whiteville Primary School had received positive COVID-19 tests. Six students were under quarantine as a result. In addition, he said that were “a number of protective quarantines throughout the district as a result of community contact.”

At that time, Columbus County Schools, Columbus Charter School, Thomas Academy and Columbus Christian Academy reported having no new confirmed cases nor people quarantined. 

The Columbus County Health Department reported 47 new COVID-19 cases on Monday and the county’s 53rd death.
