The Columbus County Health Department hosted its first rapid test drive-through for COVID-19 on Friday. Around 45 people signed up, but the site is capable of testing more than double that number, according to spokesperson Daniel Buck. The state recently provided the county health department with around 2,000 COVID-19 rapid tests. Friday’s event was scheduled to continue until 3 p.m.

Columbus County Health Director Kim Smith is pictured at the drive-through testing site.
