Columbus County government issued a boil-water advisory Thursday afternoon for customers in the far northern part of the county near Clarkton. The advisory will be lifted Friday at 6 p.m., according to Chris Nobles, assistant director of Columbus County Public Utilities.
“The area affected includes Tart Road customers with addresses higher than 8917, James B. White Hwy North, Red Hill Road, Memory’s Corner; Plum Street, and Peach Street,” the county stated in a Thursday news release.
“Due to local contractors reversing the flow of water throughout the system, customers may experience water quality issues such as discolored water,” the release continued. “Customers that experience problems with discolored water will need to contact the after hours telephone number, 910-770-2158, to report concerns.”
The advisory resulted from local contractors boring into a water line, according to the county.
