County planning board proposes stricter process for approving large subdivisions, multifamily housing

In a special-called meeting held less than two hours after notifying the media, the Columbus County Planning Board voted unanimously Thursday night to recommend changing the county’s land use ordinance. 

Specifically, the board proposes requiring new large subdivisions or subdivisions with multi-family dwellings to receive a county special use
