County schools shortfall forces layoffs, changes

Columbus County Schools is cutting three positions and shifting three other employees to different jobs to help make up for an estimated $1 million budget shortfall blamed on a combination of state politics and lower-than-expected local enrollment. 

The moves were part of a plan Deanne Meadows presented the board of education
