County sees fewer students than expected

Columbus County Schools, which has struggled for years to get its budget in line, is doing a “delicate dance” with numerous unknowns due to the pandemic, Finance Officer Lisa Nowlin said Monday.

Declining enrollment has already led to school closings. Now it heightens the long-term financial uncertainty.
