Crews respond to Thanksgiving night fire at shopping center being demolished

For the second time this year, fire crews responded to a blaze at the vacant Lewis Smith Shopping Center in downtown Whiteville — this time on Thanksgiving night. 

Two large piles of demolition materials behind the building caught fire Thursday night, according to Whiteville Emergency Services Director Hal Lowder, who said
