A racing boat accident Saturday on Lake Tabor sent one man to Grand Strand hospital via helicopter.
Tabor City Fire Chief Jerry Hodges said the victim was in a racing boat on the lake when he apparently stood up, causing the boat to become unbalanced.
“When the boat turned over,” Hodges said, “apparently his foot was trapped inside. His leg was broken in two places.”
When rescue teams arrived, the victim was in another boat headed for shore. Tabor City Fire assisted EMS in moving the victim and setting up a helicopter landing zone. The victim’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening, Hodges said.
