Posted on: 06.10.2018 at 02:25 p.m.

A teenager sustained minor injuries early Sunday in a shooting incident at a graduation party in Whiteville.

The male youth was leaving the party near Main Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard around 2 a.m. when an unknown number of rounds were fired, Whiteville Police Major Alan May said.

The victim and three friends drove to Columbus Regional. It could not be determined if the teen was struck by broken glass or bullet fragments, May said. He was released about two hours later.

There were no reports of shots fired or 911 call relative details to the shooting, May said. Officers recovered a number of casings at the scene.
