A crash at Hallsboro and Whitehall roads Saturday night sent three people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The N.C. Highway Patrol reported that Demaine Grayson was traveling east on Whitehall when he crossed the intersection and collided with Linda Simpson. Grayson’s 2004 Toyota then hit and embankment and collided with a car parked in a nearby yard.

Simpson and a passenger, Valae Simpson, were trapped in their 2005 Toyota vehicle and had to be extracted by firefighters.

Grayson was charged with driving while impaired and a safe movement violation, according to the Highway Patrol.

In an unrelated incident Sunday, two women sustained only minor injuries after their automobile crashed in a canal off Cherry Road near Cerro Gordo.
