A three-year-old was safely moved from Pireway Road in Tabor City June 24, and the child’s mother has been charged in the incident.

Patrolman B. Campbell was on routine patrol when he found the three-year-old boy in the roadway. Upon further investigation he made contact with the child’s mother, Annie Sue Ellen Barrett, of 112 Forest Edge Circle. Barrett had allegedly lost track of the child, who then wandered into the road.

Barrett was charged with a single count of misdemeanor child abuse.
