Samantha Ferrari has been charged in the beating and kicking death of 79-year-old Lonzi Lee.
Lee was assaulted in his home on Memory Twins Circle off Smyrna Road Oct. 21, according to Major Alan May of the Whiteville Police. On Oct. 22, Whiteville Police were called to Memory Twins Circle around 10:50 p.m. to investigate a domestic disturbance. Responding officers found Lee on the floor, covered in blood. His injuries were so severe he was airlifted to New Hanover Regional, where he died Tuesday.
Ferrari, 27, was still being held in jail on felony assault charges when she was charged with the murder.
The woman was arrested earlier in October after being involved in a domestic dispute in a car on Virgil Street.
Ferrari and Billy Lewis Lee, 55, were allegedly fighting inside the vehicle.
Both suspects were arrested for simple assault, and Lee was charged with assault on a female. Lee was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond. His address was listed as 407 Smyrna Rd., Whiteville.
Ferrari was released under a $500 secured bond. She gave her address as 2264 Antioch Church Road.
At the time of that incident, Ferarri was out on $1,000 secured bond at the time for a Sept. 28 arrest for shoplifting and resisting a public officer.
