Whiteville City Schools Superintendent Kenny Garland announced Friday that Whiteville High School Principal Jes Sealey is moving to the central office, and Central Middle School Principal Christopher Kelly and Edgewood Elementary Principal Jared Worthington are taking principal posts in Union County.
Sealey is transferring as principal of Whiteville High School to the Central Services as the Director of Operations during the 2018-2019 school year. Sealey has served as principal of Whiteville High School for the past seven years. Before his tenure as principal at WHS, he served as the principal at Central Middle School for two years.
“Mr. Sealey’s leadership and knowledge of the Whiteville City Schools will be an asset to the system as we undertake our new construction project at Whiteville High School,” Garland said. “Mr. Sealey will also focus on student safety in his new role as all districts are seeking improvements and resources for this very important issue.”
Kelly has accepted an offer to become the principal of Monroe High School in Union County. Kelly has served the past two years as the principal at Central Middle School.
Worthington will become the principal of Marvin Elementary School in Union County. Worthington has served the past four years as the principal of Edgewood Elementary School. Previously, Worthington served as an assistant principal at Whiteville High School and Edgewood Elementary School.
“Both Mr. Kelly and Mr. Worthington are outstanding young leaders and will continue to grow as administrators in their new roles,” Garland said. “I wish both men the best of luck as they move into new positions. It has been an honor and privilege to work with these men.”
Garland said the district will conduct an extensive search.
“The system is committed to finding high-quality candidates to meet the needs of our students and the community. It is our goal to have these vacancies filled no later than Aug. 1, 2018,” Garland said.
