The Columbus Chamber of Commerce & Tourism will host a candidates’ forum on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Southeastern Community College. The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium, located in D-Building. Candidates with opposition for the following races have been invited to attend: US House of Representatives District 7, N.C. Senate District 13, N.C. House Districts 16 and 46, Columbus County Sheriff, Columbus County Commissioner District 1, and Columbus County and Whiteville City school boards. Candidates without opposition in the General Election will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves but will not be invited to participate in the panel and take questions.
“The Chamber is proud to host this event for our business leaders and community,” said Jennifer Holcomb, president of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, “It’s our goal, as the voice of business, to provide our members and the general public with as much information as possible in order for them to make informed decisions on issues critical to our business climate and community wellbeing. What better way to do so than to have a forum where we can discuss these issues with those that could potentially represent us.”
Questions for candidates in any of the above races may be submitted prior to the event by emailing email@example.com or by calling the Chamber at 910-642-3171. The forum is open to the public and will also be broadcast live on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
