Jason Mott at Southeastern Community College auditorium at 3 p.m. Jason Mott, a Columbus County native of Bolton, received the National Book Award for Fiction in November 2021. He graduated from East Columbus High School and graduated from UNC-Wilmington with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry. He is currently a faculty member of the Creative Writing Department of UNCW. The Return was his first novel, published in 2013. This book was adapted for television by Brad Pitt as Resurrection. Other books include The Crossing, The Wonder for All Things, The First and most recently Hell of a Book in 2021. A reception and book signing will be held in the lobby of the college’s “A” building. Sponsors of the event are the Friends of Rube McCray Memorial Library, the SCC Foundation and the Literary Committee of the Reuben Brown House Preservation Society.
