Join Museum Bird researcher John Gerwin to hear some of the fascinating details of avian migration and how some of our local species do it. He will share data from recent studies using the latest tracking technologies. In North Carolina, spring migration begins as early as March, with the first Purple martins returning along our southern coast. Many songbirds arrive, and many pass on through our state during this time of year. Join us for this program on Thursday, May 28 at 11 on our Facebook page.
John Gerwin is a Research Curator of Ornithology with the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and has worked there for more than 30 years. His research focuses on the breeding cycles of several species of migratory birds in North Carolina, and one in Nicaragua. He also conducts 40-50 educational programs/year around our state.
This program will fulfill one hour of Criteria III for the NCEE Certification. If you are interested in receiving credit for this program, please contact Meredith Morgan, meredith.morgan@naturalsciences.org.
