Shizzy’s Wildcat Rescue (SWR) is a 501c (3) non- profit animal rescue organization building a 56 acres sanctuary, located in Columbus County and is need of volunteers to assist with installation of small wildcat habitats on Saturday, October 3rd  from 10:00am until 3:30pm. The sanctuary is located at 658 Main Street, Fair Bluff, NC 28439.

The sanctuary will be a safe haven for neglected animals to live out the remainder of their lives in a peaceful, natural environment. It will be a home to lions, tigers, jaguars, bobcats, cougars, servals, caracals and other species that have been abandoned, orphaned or abused. Construction paused by the Covid-19 crisis will resume in the upcoming weeks and help is needed to set posts, attach fencing, gates, clamps, top rails and roofs.

All interested volunteers must be at least 18 years old, be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs. and be comfortable working in various weather conditions. No experience is necessary. Groups welcomed.  To volunteer, please contact Rhonda Billeaud at or 910.840.1886.

As a true sanctuary, SWR will never breed, buy, sell or use animals for the purpose of entertainment and is dedicated to preserving the lives of abused, neglected and abandoned big cats through rescue, rehabilitation, and education.
