Event Details

Every wonder how to create and illustrate your very own comic book? If so, you won’t want to miss Teen Science Café Whiteville from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020, as we welcome local comic book artist and creator David Johnson. Learn how to draw in the style of a comic artist, including how to represent the basic anatomy of the human body, perspective and background. We encourage participants to bring their own sketchbook as demonstration and instruction will be given to create, and/or improve upon, your very own comic book characters!

David Johnson, our speaker, was born and raised in Hope Mills, NC, and currently resides in Bladenboro. He became interested in art and how to create it at a very young age. Johnson has been concentrating the last four years on honing his self taught artistic style into the realm of comic book art and illustration. He is currently working on his very first comic to be released in late 2020 or early 2021.

Teen Science Café is an informal, interactive program with a visiting scientist or professional expert that promotes exploration, creativity and lifelong learning.
