Downtown Whiteville at Vineland Station Thursday, November 29th at 6 p.m. Evening events include entertainment by Edgewood Elementary Chorus & The Family Band singing Christmas favorites. Whiteville Parks & Recreation will serve hot chocolate. BSA Troop 512 is hosting their Annual Super Supper starting at 5pm. You can dine in or take out plates at $7.50 each. Plates include chicken bog, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage. The Christmas tree lighting is at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, December 8, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville will host a special holiday celebration, featuring a storytime reading of the beloved classic “The Polar Express” at 10:00 a.m. plus a showing of the Warner Brothers’ film “The Polar Express” at 1:00 p.m. Afterward, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and fun wintry activities to get you into the festive spirit.

Based on the novel by Chris Van Allsburg, the film “The Polar Express” revolves around Billy (Hayden McFarland) who longs to believe in Santa Claus but finds it quite difficult to do so. This free, 100-minute film is rated G. This program is in cooperation with Vineland Christmas. Admission is free. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult over the age of 18.
