The Whiteville Rotary Club will dedicate the Whiteville Butterfly Mural Trail, which features the work of local artist Bess Hinson Taylor, on Thursday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m.
This is a public event, so please bring guests and invite others who might be interested.
The dedication will start Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the lot just south of the Museum of Natural Sciences (415 S. Madison St.) We’ll walk to the other two murals nearby and end with a reception outside Columbus County Arts Council. Thanks to Whiteville Junior Woman’s Club for providing the refreshments.
The trail started at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences with support from the museum’s Friends organization. Whiteville Rotary partnered with several organizations to extend the trail with three additional murals. Partner organizations were Rotary District 7730, Carolyn T. High Garden Club, Whiteville Garden Club and Town and Country Garden Club. The project wouldn’t have been possible without supportive property owners: Kenny Barnes, John Fisher and Columbus County Arts Council. We are also grateful to local art teachers who worked with Bess to incorporate student work into the “Love” mural located near Vineland Station.
