Community CPR is collecting nonperishable foods to distribute to people dealing with food scarcity because of the impact of COVID-19, said Director Wallyce Todd. Two confirmed collection points are Penn’s Grill and Farmacy on Main. Donors are asked to leave nonperishable packaged foods in the bright peach tubs at those locations during days that the businesses are open.
Todd said that CCPR will collaborate with area churches and other organizations to respond to the community’s developing needs. “We are expanding our services to include food delivery to senior citizens and families with children or members with disabilities,” she said. “In partnership with Honeycutt Produce, we distributed fresh produce to between 100 and 200 homes all around Columbus County.”
