In this file photo, News Reporter staffer Fuller Royal photographed this 12-foot, 500-pound alligator after its capture and death in the canal at Lake Waccamaw in June, 1988. The gator reportedly had killed a German Shepherd dog and made threatening moves toward an 11-year-old boy fishing on the canal’s banks the week before.
