Boil water advisory issued at Lake

Revised on: 06.6.2018 at 10:48 a.m.

Posted on: 06.6.2018 at 10:47 a.m.

Some Lake Waccamaw water customers are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to a leaking water main on Waccamaw Shores Road. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

The affected areas are from 2813 Waccamaw Shores Road  to the dam and from 2934 Waccamaw Shores  to the dam.

The town and the Division of Water Resources advised that when water is restored, consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for one  minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

This advisory remains in effect until further notice.

If you have questions if your house is impacted please call town hall at 910-646-3700.
