Whiteville City Schools are again asking community members to buy Christmas gifts for students on an “Angel Tree” at their central office. Children represented on the tree have been selected by school social workers as needing clothing or other items. Sponsors pick a recipient’s paper angel off the tree in the central office lobby.
The list matches gifts to recipients using numbers rather than names. The children will not know who got them a gift, nor will the givers know more than age and sex of the recipients, plus clothing sizes and other requests.
Carolyn Griffin, social worker for the city schools, can answer questions about the program at the central office on Walter Street, or by phone: 642-4119, ext. 2703.
“Thank you so very much for participating in our Angel Tree Gift program,” Griffin said. “Your contributions will make a difference!” She reminds sponsors to:
–Please write your name and phone number on the sign up sheet.
–Please tag each item with the number of your Angel and bag or box all together (Gifts may be wrapped but please make sure each is clearly tagged with the Angel #)
–Please make sure that all gifts for your Angel are received in this office on or before December 13, 2018
