Girl Scout week was declared in Whiteville when Mayor Pro Tem Flora Singletary signed a proclamation making March 12-18 Girl Scout Week in the city, as it was throughout the country. The proclamation noted that Girl Scouts of the USA was celebrating the 66thanniversary of its founding and that more than 32 million girls and adults had been members.
