A Look Back at a church steeple and tiger scouts

32 years ago – Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church received a new steeple on Sept. 26, 1986. The steeple replaced one destroyed by lightening in July. Ricky Bullard, contractor, attaches straps prior to hoisting it in place. The hoisting was done by McNeil’s Crane Co. of Lumberton.

15 years ago – Cub Pack 506 Cubmaster Donnie Rockwell and his Scouts recently visited the T.I.G.E.R.S Preservation Station Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Tiger Cubs feeding this real royal white tiger are, from left: Bobby Swingle, Donavan Rockwell, Clay Collins and Travis Conley. Rockwell said his Scouts learned that only 300 of the white tigers existed at the time. The Cubs made a $120 donation to tiger conservation.
