My Columbus: Was it worth it?

Memorial Day observances across America included this one Monday morning at the Veterans Memorial Park of America south of Whiteville. New Hope Baptist Church Pastor Rev. Darrin Moore offered prayers, and Bill Thompson led in the singing of the national anthem. Speakers included VMPA President Randy Norris, Vietnam Veterans President Mike Creen, VFW President W.H. Morris and Columbus County Clerk of Court Jess Hill. “We should spend every day respecting that sacrifice,” Hill said of those who gave their lives in service to their country.
