Duke Progress customers out — again

Revised on: 08.9.2018 at 04:53 p.m.

For the second time this week — each time on dangerously hot days — Duke Progress Energy customers in the Hallsboro area are without power.

Around 200 customers are currently affected in the area between Honey Hill, Sam Potts Highway, and Pierce Cemetery, according to the Duke outage maps.

Both outages this week were reportedly caused by a logging operation.

Restoration time varies between households, according to Progress Energy, but most customers should see their power restored by 6 p.m.

Temperatures in the mid 90s with heat indices of 105 and higher are expected throughout the rest of the week.
