The following shelters are open, according to a Thursday, Sept. 20, press release from Columbus County Emergency Services:
–East Columbus High School (re-opened)
–Edgewood Elementary School in Whiteville
–South Columbus High School
–West Columbus High School
The City of Whiteville has a dusk to dawn curfew for the downtown area. The citywide curfew was lifted Tuesday, September 18.
The Town of Chadbourn is under a curfew from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for the entire town.
The Town of Lake Waccamaw is under a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Columbus Charter School: Closed for students and staff Tuesday through Friday. AlphaBest will also be closed.
Columbus County Schools: Closed through Friday, Sept. 21
Columbus Christian Academy: Closed through Friday, Sept. 21
Southeastern Community College: Closed through Friday, Sept. 21
Whiteville City Schools: Closed through Friday, Sept. 21
Columbus County government offices: closed
Columbus County Animal Shelter: closed
Columbus County Courts: All court sessions are cancelled and the courthouse is closed through Friday, Sept. 21.
Enchanting Tree Learning Center will open Friday, September 21 at 8 a.m.
The Columbus County Farmers Market Farm to Table Dinner scheduled for Saturday, September 22 as been postponed.
The Wright family reunion in Tabor City has been postponed. See update in Friday’s paper.
The Columbus County Literacy Council’s Scrabble Challenge scheduled for Tuesday, September 25, has been cancelled.
