Inmate stabbed repeatedly with broom handle

An inmate at Columbus Correctional is recovering from his injuries after being beaten and stabbed with a broom handle.

The sheriff’s department reported that Robert White, 39, was stabbed multiple times with a broom handle that was broken while it was being used to assault him. The incident was reported at 11:22 p.m. Saturday.
The investigation is continuing, and the suspect in the case is another inmate, according to the sheriff’s office.

The N.C. Department of Corrections lists three inmates by the name Robert White, all in the same age range, at the Columbus Facility.
