Columbus County’s delegates to the state legislature will attend next week’s meeting of the Columbus County Board of Commissioners to talk about school merger.
Rep. Brenden Jones, R-Columbus, and Sen. Danny Britt, R-Robeson, have notified commissioners that they have come up with an “alternative solution” – details of which they still aren’t talking about publicly – for resolving the question of whether to merge the Columbus County Schools and Whiteville City Schools.
Both legislators plan to be at Monday’s board, which starts at 6:30 p.m., to present their alternative solution. Jones and Britt each posted comments on Facebook encouraging any citizens interested in the merger issue to attend next week’s commissioners meeting.
