Patrick Wesley Brown Jr. has been charged in the June 2 shooting that damaged two gas pumps and a store building in Tabor City.

Tabor City Police report that Brown and another man were driving a gray Nissan in the area of the store shortly before 10 p.m. on June 2. They are alleged to have fired several .380 caliber rounds at Lataurus Clintario “Lay Lay” Evans as he walked out of the Vasco store on Fair Bluff Road.

According to a report by Patrolman Ronald Edwards, Benjamin Hardie was closing the store and had just let Evans out of the store when the incident occurred. One of the rounds glanced off a fuel pump, while another hit the protective cage of a second pump. The third round struck the door of the business.

Court records show that Brown was convicted in 2016 of armed robbery, and is due in court July 12 on another armed robbery charge.
