A birthday party ended in gunfire but no injuries early Saturday.
Tabor City Police were summoned to Club 15 on Jarvis Street around 3:15 a.m. to investigate a shooting. Around 75 people were in the club when a black male opened fire outside, then entered the building with an SKS rifle. The suspect was reportedly still shooting inside the club when officers were dispatched.
Officer Brian Campbell was the first patrolman on the scene, and he reported that he checked the building for the alleged gunman, then secured the scene.
Officers found several empty rifle casings and one .40 caliber casing on the scene, along with a “bronze ring” and a cellular phone.
Campbell reported that one bullet went through the top window of the main entry door, lodging in the ceiling, and two other shell holes in a wall.
Witnesses placed the suspect leaving the scene in an automobile, and Campbell reported that a vehicle matching the description was later found wrecked at Bay Street and Second Avenue.
No one was reported injured in the incident, which is still under investigation.
