Two hurt in St. James crash

One person was airlifted and another transported by ambulance after a single-car wreck on Old Northeast Road Friday.

The Volkswagen automobile was eastbound approximately one mile west from St. James Church when the car went out of control, struck a ditch bank, plowed through some trees and overturned.

Traffic was blocked for around an hour along Old Northeast Road after this Volkswagen overturned west of St. James Church.

Emergency personnel and equipment from St. James, White Marsh Welches Creek, Hallsboro, Lake Waccamaw, and Buckhead responded, along with the Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Department.

The crash is still under investigation.

An Airline helicopter from New Hanover Regional picked up one of the subjects in Friday’s wreck at the St. James Church parking lot.
