Two-month investigation results in firearms, drug seizure

A Chadbourn-area man is in jail under $165,000 bond after narcotics agents seized ten firearms, crack cocaine and prescription narcotics from his home Friday.

Billy Lee Lennon was arrested on nine counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, maintaining a place for drug activity, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver crack cocaine and narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Some of the firearms and drugs seized from Billy Lennon’s home Friday.

Sheriff Lewis Hatcher said the Sheriff’s Office Vice-Narcotics Unit made the arrest as part of a two-month long investigation into the distribution of crack cocaine and prescription pills in the Chadbourn area. This investigation originated from information gathered from citizen complaints concerning the defendant.

Detectives completed an undercover purchase of narcotics from the defendant, and on Friday, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 2089 Braswell Road, Chadbourn.

During the search warrant, the defendant — a convicted felon – was found to be in possession of ten firearms including a sawed-off “long gun,” altered for easy concealment, Hatcher said. The defendant also possessed two sets of digital scales, prescription medication, and crack cocaine. Vice-Narcotics Detectives seized the drug paraphernalia, firearms, and narcotics.
