Wanted: March 1970 eclipse memories

Where were you when the lights went out in Columbus 47 years ago? What did it look like to you, and what did it feel like?
If you accompanied Whiteville High School science teacher Anne Barefoot to Eastern Carolina University for the gathering there that day, what was that experience like?
If you remember the total solar eclipse of Saturday, March 7, 1970, please send your description of the event to for possible inclusion in an upcoming article.
We would also love to scan and reprint any photos you took of people viewing the eclipse or of any activities connected with it. If used in the paper, we’ll give you credit for the photo. Please name the people in the photo if possible.
