Annie Merle ‘Banny’ Sykes

Annie Merle “Banny” Sykes, 76, of Bladenboro, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2018. She was born March 29, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents,  Taft and Ruby Edwards Guyton; her husband, Luke “Bill” Sykes; one daughter, Delores “Effie” Strickland; her brother, Prentice Guyton; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 in the Butters Baptist Church fellowship hall. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 at the church with Revs. Anthony Rich and Dewayne Lambeth officiating. Burial will be in Singletary Cemetery in Butters. Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.

She is survived by one son, Greg Sykes of Bladenboro; one daughter, Lynn S. Hester of Butters; one sister, Belita Green; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
