Ava McKee Callahan, 87, went to be with our Lord and Savior Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. She was born July 28, 1933, in Chadbourn, to the late Rossie and Theatus McKee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Paul Callahan; and two sons, Donald Ray Callahan and Jackie Glenn Callahan.
Mrs. Callahan will be remembered as a loving mother, granny, great-granny, great-great-granny, aunt and sister to the late Veta Carter, Barbara Hall and Charles McKee.
She was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She enjoyed playing and singing worship songs on the piano.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 at Wayne Memorial Park with Steven Reese officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Seymour Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family.
Survivors include two daughters, Thea Willing-Navarro and husband, Enrique, of Kennesaw, Ga., Cathy Reese and husband, Rudy, of Pikeville; one son Dennis Callahan and Deborah of Fayetteville. Ava Callahan loved her eightgrandchildren, Paul Reese, Steven Reese, Michelle Alombro, Jodie Washington, Jessica Willing, James Willing, Matthew Callahan and Daniel Callahan; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren and prayed for each one of them dearly.
