Benny Walton Godwin Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at his residence.
He was the son of the late James Albert and Flora Burney Godwin and was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Chase Godwin.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at the funeral home with Dr. Ray Lundy officiating. Interment will be in Gowan Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Margaret Peal Williamson Godwin of the home; one daughter, Laura G. Greene (Jeff) of Cerro Gordo; one son, Benny “Benjie” Walton Godwin Jr. (Jean) of Cerro Gordo; one brother, Kenneth M. Godwin (Alma) of Cerro Gordo; three grandchildren, William Godwin, Christopher Godwin and Jenna Greene; and four great-grandchildren, Tailor Godwin, Haleigh Godwin, Alieyah Godwin and Ella Rae Godwin.
