Billy Rogers, 72, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C. Born April 23, 1945 in Lumberton, he was the son of the late John and Sophronia Rogers and the widower of Evelyn Aline Watts Rogers. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Sweet; and four brothers, Johnny “Shorty” Rogers Jr., Israel “Bill” Rogers, Stanley Rogers Sr. and W. H. Rogers.
Visitation was held Friday, June 23 at Inman Ward Funeral Home in Tabor City. Final rites were held Saturday, June 24 in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in Myrtle Green Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Rogers of Rowland, Adriane Graham of Loris, S.C.; four sons, Billy Rogers Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., James Rogers and Ricky Rogers, both of Fairmont, Billy Wayne Chester of Loris, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Norma Jean Dew of Chadbourn, Marva Dean Chester Locklear of Whiteville; one stepson, Shane Chester of Loris, S.C.; one brother, Bobby Ray Rogers of Riverdale, Ga,; 27 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and special nephews, Don Rogers and Stanley “Pap” Rogers Jr.
