Calvin ‘Butch’ Stuart Sasser Jr.

Calvin “Butch” Stuart Sasser Jr., 68, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at his home.
He was a native of Hallsboro and the son of Calvin Stuart Sasser and Maggie Adjenora Sasser. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Stuart Sasser.
He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and business administration. He retired from International Paper as a timber security agent. He was the purveyor of the largest peach orchard in Columbus County and avid outdoorsman. In retirement, he took joy in keeping his yard mowed and entertaining his five grandchildren with tractor rides.
His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17 at the Hallsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Judy Billings officiating. Visitation will be held prior from 2-3 p.m. to the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Pierce Cemetery. Peacock Funeral Home of Whiteville is serving the family.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Sasser; his son, Justin Brett Sasser; his daughter, Amanda Sasser and her husband, William Craig Pope; his mother, Maggie Adjenora Sasser; his sister, Annette Lovick and her husband, Steve Lovick; and his five grandchildren, Samuel Sasser, Myles Sasser, Hanley Pope, Will Pope and Cooper Pope.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hallsboro United Methodist Church, 1004 Hallsboro Rd. S, Hallsboro, N.C. 28442.
