Mr. Clyde Soles, 85, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at Lower Cape Fear Life-care. He was born July 8, 1935, in Columbus County, the son of the late Reatha Bell Soles. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wayne Soles; his mother, Reatha Bell Soles Tanner; and one sister, Lela Driggers.
Mr. Soles was a First Class Lineman with Stackhouse, Inc. and Sumter Builders. He loved his work and the men he worked with. He was always anxious to go out on storm work, hurricanes, ice, snow, no matter the conditions. He always enjoyed working with his fellow linemen, especially Tony Sellers who is now with BEMC.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, in the Peacock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynda Bowen Soles; one son, Tim Collins of Whiteville; two daughters, Linda Greene and husband, Eddie, of Clarendon, Wendy C. Morgan and husband, Todd, of Sutherland, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Angela Soles of Hartsville, S.C.; one brother, Juny Soles of Walden, N.Y.; one sister, Lucy Hyatt of Rock Hill, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Josh Greene, Holly Snelson, Tanya Soles, Buck Reynolds, Haley Collins, Noah Collins, Jacob Collins, Aaron Morgan and wife, Jessi, Adam Morgan and wife, Lauren; two great grandchildren; and two special little grands, Christopher and Catherine Bui.
