David Purvis Watts

David Purvis Watts, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Whiteville. He was the son of the late David Neil Watts and Theolia Mae Carroll Watts and was preceded in death by a brother, James L. Watts.
He worked for Carolina Power & Light for more than 40 years and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church.
Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15 in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Revs. Mike Bowles and David A. Watts officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15 prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Gibson Watts of the home; sons, David Allen Watts, James Daryl Watts and John Carroll Watts, all of Richmond, Va.; and four grandchildren, Hannah Catherine Watts, David Taylor Watts, Caleb Mason Watts and Brittany Morgan Watts.
