Mr. Donald Grady Stanley, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Whiteville. He was born Aug. 17, 1941 in Columbus County, the son of the late Grady Stanley and Charity Stevens Stanley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Jean Stanley; five brothers, Calvin Stanley, James Ralph Stanley, William Earl Stanley, Lloyd Carson Stanley and Grady Wilson Stanley; and one sister, Doris Bryant.
Mr. Stanley was a native of Nakina and a long time farmer. He was a member of Nakina Baptist Church. He was an avid N.C. Tarheel fan.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27 at Peacock Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Nakina Baptist Church with Rev. Darryll Hester officiating. Burial will be in the Stanley Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Eddie Dean Stanley and wife, Cindy, of Nakina; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Allen and husband, Roy, of Nichols, S.C.; three grandchildren, Tony McDowell, Greg McDowell and Katelyn Stanley; four great-grandchildren, Charlie Martin, Ethan Martin, Wyatt Martin and Hunter McDowell; and his long time companion, Lou Long.
