Douglas Wilson Beck Sr., 79, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, in the McLeod Loris Hospital. Born April 26, 1942, in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Wilson Beck and Anna Bell Soles Beck.
He was a member of the New Horizon Baptist Worship Center, where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anita Bordeaux and Mary Ann Elmore.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the New Horizon Baptist Worship Center Cemetery officiated by Dr. Tom Ward. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery. The family has requested that all attendees wear a mask. Inman Ward Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Ward Beck; two sons, Douglas Beck Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Whiteville and Steven Beck and wife, Tammy, of Tabor City; one daughter, Renee Beck Penny of Tabor City; two brothers, David Beck of North Wilkesboro and Kelly Beck of Greenville; two sisters, Lenore Taylor of Lumberton and Susan Beck of Manteo; two grandchildren, Steven Beck Jr. and wife, Miranda, and Houston Penny; two great-grandchildren, Kealyn Reece Beck and Sadie Rae Beck; a special sister in-law, Jean Bass of Lumberton; special nephew, Anthony Grainger; two great-nieces, Hali Grainger and Bryana Grainger; and one great-great-niece, Kenli Grainger.
