Edgbert Bruno Godwin Jr., 62, of the Crusoe community, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was the son of the late Charity Mae Lee and Edgbert Bruno Godwin Sr.
He was currently serving as pastor of Campside Freewill Baptist Church in Whiteville and formerly as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Bladenboro.
He was an electrical and instrumentation superintendant with Jacobs Engineering for 35 years and previously employed by the Whiteville Police Department for several years.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at Campside Independent Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James Howard Nobles officiating. Interment will be in the Godwin Family Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Dalien Godwin of the home; three children, Edgbert “Bruno” Godwin III of Lake Waccamaw, Kimberly Godwin McPherson of Clarendon and Ashlee Godwin Faulk of Nakina; three siblings, Donna G. McLamb of Whiteville, Ronnie Dale Godwin of Crusoe and Denise G. Edwards of Lake Waccamaw; and seven grandchildren.
