Edward Dowe “ Cuz” Worley, 77, of the Western Prong community, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was the son of the late Edward Leo Worley and Lizzie Mae Watts Worley.
He was a member of Western Prong Baptist Church who loved the Lord, was a Gideon since 1981, retired from Ed Worley True Value  Hardware, retired manager of Lowe’s-Whiteville,  member of North Whiteville VFD-retired, served on the Columbus County  Board of Commissioners for 10 years, served on the N.C. Governors Advisory Council –Aging 12 years, worked with Columbus County Department of Aging Advisory Council, member of Kiwanis International, and Elderhaus, Inc. and was the Executive Director with the Columbus County Departmentt of Aging.
He was awarded the order of the Long Leaf Pine. Congress and Congressman, Mike McIntyre, Resolution and Recorded in the June 21, 2013 Congressional  Minutes.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 at Western Prong Baptist Church. Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at the church with Revs. Ronnie Wilson, Warren Hill and Billy Ward and Dr. Bobby Carden officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include  his wife, Barbara Ann Smith Worley of the home; one son, Ricky Dowe Worley (Karen) of Whiteville; two daughters, Cynthia Ann W. Gibson (Dan) of Mary Hill and Robin Nanette Rich (Cory) of Whiteville; one brother,  Emory Worley (Brenda) of Whiteville; grandchildren, Tracy Gore (Mark), Tiffany Inman (Timmy), Hannah Hickman (Kyle), Catarina Gibson, Brian Eddie Benton (Shelby), Ashlee Clement, Molly Clement and Brayden Schmitt; great-grandchildren,  Ivan Gore, Issac Gore, Caleb Fowler, Mason Benton and Landon Inman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, Tenn. 37214-0800.
