Eva G. Walker, 94, of the Beaverdam community died Monday, April 16, 2018 at her home. She was born April 3, 1924 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Roy Godwin and Martine McPherson Godwin. She was the widow of V. D. Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; four brothers, William Bill Godwin, Alvie Godwin, Harvey Godwin, and Wayland Godwin; and one sister Mattie McPherson.
She was formerly employed with Whiteville Apparel for many years. She was a member of Chadbourn Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at Peacock Funeral Home in Whiteville. Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 at Chadbourn Pentecostal Holiness Church with Revs. Donald Conway and Buddy Seay officiating. Burial will be in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda McPherson of Chadbourn; one son, Veronda D. Walker of Chadbourn; two sisters, Mortie McPherson of Clarendon and Myrtie Sellers of Whiteville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
